Time to Sign Up for A to Z

Are you interested in growing your blog readership? If yes, keep reading. If not, scroll down to the pretty picture of puppies.

Okay, bloggers who want new readers--today is the day to prepare to get them. In a little more than two months, many of your blogging friends will be participating in this:

Starting April 1st, we'll be posting a new (short) blog every Monday-Saturday, with each blog post representing a letter of the alphabet. Those of us who want to gain readers from it will be reading other blogs in the challenge and making new friends. A few of you are here because we met during either the 2014 or 2015 challenges.

What do you need to do? Today, head on over to the sign-up page and add your name to the list. Then start thinking about a theme. You can pre-write your posts or wait until April to write them, but on April 1st, you'll post a blog every Monday-Saturday, starting with the letter A and ending with Z.

PUPPIES!

For those who aren't participating, it's still going to be fun. My topic is something I can't wait to get started on--it will be quite different from last year's theme, which was this:

Plus, I'm one of Alex Cavanaugh's minions, which means I'll be helping keep the list of participants clean throughout the month. Here's our cool minion badge:

Come back on A to Z theme reveal day, February 22nd, to hear all about my exciting 2016 theme!

Are you participating in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge this year?

  1. Thank you for being a Ninja Minion!
Some of my best blogger buddies came from the Challenge. It's a great way to meet friends.

  2. I'm signed up and ready to go! Ok, maybe not ready (as in posts written) but ready to get ready!

    1. I haven't even started! I'm still writing February's posts. I'll be busy writing all the A to Z posts in March...can't wait!

  3. Shari and I did this one year. It was a lot of fun. We tag-teamed it so it wasn't as much work. I did enjoy popping in on a few blogs to check out their posts and their blogs since most were new to me.

Look forward to seeing your posts, Stephanie!

    1. That's a good idea! It's definitely all about reading other people's posts. I'm surprised how few people do that. I'll read a ton but unless they start reading back, I'll only read them once. People don't get that to grow your own community, you have to give!

  4. Those are some awfully cute puppies :). I haven't done an A-Z blog post--maybe I should try it.

    1. You should! Those are king charles spaniels, right? They remind me of my dog, which is why I just had to pick them! Same ears, same coloring, and same pink around the nose.

  5. Yay for the Challenge! And that is an awesome ninja minion badge. The past few years, I've been doing the Challenge with my writer's group, but everyone is busy this year. So I'll be lurking and reading posts when I have spare moments!

    1. It is tough to post something every day by yourself, even if the posts are supposed to be shorter than normal. (Mine never are!) But you can still benefit from the challenge by reading and commenting new blogs...they'll sometimes comment back and you'll get a new reader out of it!

  6. I had a lot of fun with A to Z last year and did make friends which has made blogging and reading blogs more fun.

    1. It always is. But for some reason I like having the challenge of writing within boundaries.

    1. The posts are supposed to be short--I think because it's all about meeting new people and reading lots of blogs. Mine end up being the regular length because I can't shorten!

  9. I really want to do this challenge, but I'm not sure if will be able to keep up!!!!

    Cute puppies!!!!

    1. I usually prewrite all of mine in March and just schedule them to automatically post. That makes it easier. They can be short blogs. You don't have to do more than 100-200 words if you want!

  10. I was just thinking about this yesterday, having been reading your posts the last few years. I'm thinking of trying it for the first time, hoping I can keep up and come up with a good theme. I too grew up in the 80s, but you've already done that. I'll be thinking hard of one.

    1. Do the 80s! It was fun. Others have done it in the past--I think there were some other 80s ones last year, too. Or do the 90s! I thought about doing that this year but I went a completely different direction.

    2. Looks like I won't be doing it now ;( The linkup is already closed.

  12. Hi Stephanie, I would love to join in the challenge and fun. But I am afraid I won't be able to keep up with all the find from A-Z.

    1. I've found it's best to know that from the start and not have to drop out halfway through.

  13. Something I'd love to participate in as it sounds like a great way of discovering new blogs and meeting new blogger buddies but alas K'd find the A-Z theme a bit restrictive. Still, doubtlessly something I will get involve with in that I'm excited to see what subjects people come up with.

    1. You don't have to set a theme...so youcould just write about anything A-Z during that month. That might be fun!

    2. I guess if you don't have to se a theme, I could do it that way, too.

  14. Oh the puppies. So cute so I linked you to Awww Mondays.

I've never done the A to Z Challenge. Let me just say how lazy I am. I love to read others offerings, but this challenge is way too much work for me.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

    1. Aww, thank you! Those puppies remind me of my dog. I was looking at a page full of Google images of puppies and that's what made me choose that one!

  15. I may actually try this again. I did it two years ago -- and met a lot of new friends in the process -- and it's been months since I've posted...

    1. If you read lots of other people's blogs during the month, you can get so many great new readers out of it...maybe not nearly as many as you read, but that's okay!

  17. I look forward to seeing what your posts will be about! I'm not sure if I'm doing A to Z this year. I only did it once before, but it was a lot of fun! Enjoy being a Ninja Minion. :)

  20. I met you during the 2015 A-Z. I'm looking forward to doing 2016 A-z. I signed up to be a minion too. Can't wait for your reveal. I'll be doing a fun one this year, one I think many of you will enjoy. I'm also considering doing another simple one on my old forgotten Dr.Who/SCI.FI. blog. Not positive, but may do so.

    1. I know! It's so frustrating that so many people sign up, post, but don't really read many blogs. What's the point? You've gotta make new friends if you're going to do it!

  21. I did A to Z a couple of times and enjoyed it and even found some really cool bloggers. I'm probably not going to do it this year, though, because I just...I don't know...I just don't know if I wanna.

  23. OMG, it's that time again!! I'm doing another stream of consciousness theme.

  24. Not sure yet because we're going to be away a bit in April. But I hope so.

  25. Love these challenges. I tend to write looooooooong blog posts because I combine so much but this will teach me a bit of discipline and I will share the news. Thanks and love all the photos too. Have a great week.

  26. Hey Stephanie,

What adorable puppies! :) All the very best with the alphabet challenge thing. I would never participate. Although, rather ironically, my alternative posts in the past have actually ended up promoting the darned thing. Yikes and Argggghhh!!!! to the A to Z. Yep, "A" is for "Argggghhh!!!!"

    Have fun!

    Gary :)

  34. This sounds wonderful! I have so much schoolwork and so on so I just know I wouldn't be able to manage posting every day, but I do like the sound of this and will be anxious to follow your posts going up when the challenge begins. It sounds like a lot of fun, and challenges are always a lovely way to stay connected to other bloggers.

  38. All this participation is great, but I want to write/finish my NaNo project. That sounded so whiny. Sorry about that. :-)

  40. Can't wait to find out what your theme is--your eighties one last year was one of my favorites.

  41. Undecided if I'm participating. This would be my first year if I did. The list already seems huge!

  42. I've actually given this quite a bit of thought, but to be honest, the idea I have requires a lot of free time that I don't have to prep for it. So more than likely, I'll once again sit on the sidelines, watch the mayhem unfold, and will cut down on my reading for a month or so.

  43. It is not my thing and not really appropriate for my blog but I sure hope you make some new friends and readers.
