A Griswold Kind of Christmas

First, I want to congratulate Jeffrey Scott. He won the advanced reader's copy of The Secret Files of Fairday Morrow I gave away when I interviewed the authors, Jess and Stephanie. If you didn't win but still want a copy, the giveaway is in its final days, so find it on my interview post here.

Meanwhile, in the days leading up to Christmas, I wanted to share my fun new Christmas village. From far away, you can't tell what it is...

But as you get closer, that house looks a little too familiar.

There's a standard scene that could be part of any village scene...

But then you see it. After this, you know exactly what movie inspired this Christmas village.

Still not sure? Here's a hint.

Have you ever done a Christmas village?

  1. All right, that's rather funny.
Never had one although my mother sets one up now. If they make a Harry Potter version, I bet it's really popular.
I'm offline the rest of the week, so wishing you an awesome Christmas, Stephanie!

  3. That's brilliant. I love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, it's one of my favourite Christmas films.

  4. I have more fun with the Christmas Village than the tree. Our tree has shrunk to a table top version, but our Christmas Village is still growing. I started with a Charles Dickens style, but changed to a 1950s-style village this year. I guess I'm reverting to my childhood and playing with dolls and dollhouses. It's okay though, I'm finally old enough to be called eccentric instead of crazy. Your village is great! Love that movie!

    1. It's all on Amazon, although you can buy it through the company's website. I just like the ease of buying it through Amazon. Although the company's website may put some of the stuff on clearance after the holidays?

    1. That's such a cool idea! We didn't have villages when I was a kid, but we had a manger and I used to love to play with the little pieces and pretend they were my dolls!

  12. Congrats to Jeffrey!

My former neighbor used to do a Christmas village. He passed away over a year ago and we inherited the village. I think of him every time I see it.

Christmas villages are so much fun. I don't do the village, but I collect Christmas figures. The hh gives me one every year at Christmas.

  16. Aww, this just looks too cute! I love the idea of making a lovely little Christmas village to be part of the display in your home. I'm not that crafty which is why we stick to usual store bought decorations, but I would love to have something like this :3

  17. Brilliant village scene with a new twist. I hadn't seen it before...
I still have the old world Christmas village I made from ceramics years ago. It isn't complete since I lost my molds in the big flood. I'm missing the church and a few other pieces but it's big enough for me as fills the top of the piano.

    Merry Christmas.
    Hugs,
    JB
