Scary October Is Coming!!!

Tomorrow it's here.

The best day of the year!

Tomorrow kicks off my favorite month...a month of beauty...

...fun...

...and spookiness!

Can you spot the ghost in the above GIF?

Each October, I do something special for my favorite month. Every Friday in October I will share a scary story. Last year I told you about the Amityville Horror house, the Stanley Hotel, the Queen Mary, and the Whaley House. What stories will I tell this year?

You'll just have to tune in to find out!

What is your favorite thing about fall?

  1. That will be very cool! Several of you are posting scary stuff for October. I need to post a list.
My favorite thing is football. And cooler weather. Hate humidity.

    1. I love scary stuff, so I'm going to have to seek those other scary blogs out. Mine are very photo-heavy, like all my blogs, so no long paragraphs to read! Just little fun facts about four different places.

  2. I'm not a great fan of autumn, I'm a summer girl and I don't like letting go of it. However, I do love the crisp days you get in October when the sun's shining and it lights up all the beautiful colours. I'm just not so fond of the soggy October days when it's lashing down with rain.

    1. Yeah, and late September has been VERY soggy, so I can see that! I think the rain will make the leaves prettier when they change, right? (I have no idea of the science behind that, since the color happens right before they fall..but I've heard rainy summers make the leaves prettier.)

  3. I'm so excited for Halloween! I can start wearing my Jack Skellington ring again and dance around my room to This Is Halloween. There's just something fun about kicking up leaves, watching the trees turn gold and taking in those crisp mornings. - Tasha

    1. Agreed! I think for me, fall was always such an exciting time during school. It was a new year and usually I had new friends. There were always quite a few events in those early months, especially around football season. That feeling just stayed with me as I got older.

  4. the smell of cold, the leaves, the Autumn fruits and veggies, colourful chrysanthemums everywhere and new TV season would be my faves in Autumn! And Autumn clothes! Jacket/vests, scarves, hoodies....

    1. It is fun to put on all those winter clothes again. It's like you get a new wardrobe (even though it's old stuff) every six months or so!

  5. I love the colors of October even though they make me a little sad that things are dying. Looking forward to your stories.

    1. My husband makes that comment. "Ah, yes, look at all the dying leaves!"

  7. Ugh. I grew up in New York. Apple picking, harvest festivals, Halloween-themed events ... And I loved the cool, crisp air and being able to be comfortable in jeans and a sweater outside.

Now I live in Florida and this year has been particularly awful, weather-wise. The humidity has yet to break and it's miserable down here!

    1. But you'll get the last laugh in January when we're all freezing and worrying about being snowed in!

  8. Yay! I love October too. And I remember that clip from an episode of Ghost Hunters. :) My October has my birthday, a renaissance fair, pumpkin patches, Trick or Treat Trail, and Halloween. I love it!

    1. Yeah, that's one of my favorite moments from Ghost Hunters. It was one of the best pieces of evidence they've ever collected. I believe it was a prison, right? The camera was stationed there and nobody was around and later, while reviewing it, they saw that black mass moving toward the camera. Freaky.

  11. October is a pretty legit month, no lie there. I'm hopeful that I can find stuff to do here in SF that is spooky a little bit!

    1. Alcatraz would be a fun SF place to visit around Halloween...especially if they do a special ghost tour!

  12. I like the cooler weather. I was getting pretty tired of the triple digits we were experiencing. Today I'm wearing a jacket.

    I'll await your scary story.

  13. I'm looking forward to it. My blog will be scary all this month too...of course, that's nothing new for me!

I love Halloween, bonfires, crisp apples, and the fall leaves. Best time of year...wish it wasn't so short.

  14. Ooh! Bring on the scary. This is my favorite time of the year too. (And it has nothing to do with it being birthday season.) It's also the time of year I met and fell for my hubby, so there's some nostalgia there.

    Looking forward to the posts!

  15. October is fun because it means I can look forward to lots and lots of neat desserts and candy. (lol) Can't wait to see your stories and your pics are awesome! Hugs...Ro

  25. I can't wait for your spooky stories. I wonder if you will talk about the Winchester house which I would love to visit one day. I love the autumn leaves, the smell in the air, being able to wear nice hats. I love Halloween and seeing so many different costumes.

  26. You do enjoy your October:)
We'll be anxiously awaiting the spooky story.....

  27. Fall... I look forward to Thanksgiving. And Halloween is fun. Haven't voluntarily dressed up since 8th grade though. (Tragic costume story. I got laughed at. But my costume was brilliant!)

  32. I love the colour and the cooler weather. Being able to retire to bed and not feeling like I have just entered the sauna is a huge plus.

  33. No Fall in Singapore. We're wrapped by haze recently so I'm hoping it'll go away soon. Still, I've always liked the crisp coolness and contrasting warm colours of Autumn (in pictures & films). I hear there's a smell to it, too ...

  34. I loovvveee the fall, but my favorite thing is the food. Nom nom nom

Butternut squash soup served over tortellini with drizzled molasses is something that HAS to be eaten this season.

    ReplyDelete

    1. That sounds delicious! I have never thought to combine tortellini with a cream based soup. Thanks for the suggestion. I can't wait to go shopping this weekend and make some.

  36. October means another year is ending. Time really flies. And Christmas is coming round the corner.

    ReplyDelete
  37. October is my favorite month too. My husband's birthday and my anniversary are this month.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Apart from trick or treat Halloween is not particularly big here. My favourite thing about autumn is definitely the changing of the leaves to russet.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love Fall for the colors and being able to walk on crunchy leaves ... it is a beautiful time of the year xox

  40. I just read your Queen Mary post from last year. I look at the ship everyday from my office window. I have taken my kids a couple of times and have never seen the pool. We are hosting our holiday party there and when I was there last week they were setting up mazes on board and in the lot next door as part of their haunted month of October.
When I lived where there were fall leaves this time of year was my favorite. I loved the apple picking, the pumpkins and the chill in the air.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sounds exciting! Can't wait. :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have to admit, I'm not very fond of October. I don't do Halloween and the weather changes cold and bitter, not weather I enjoy. It also signifies the end of Summer, if September didn't already do so. It's also the final month before that Daylight Savings nonsense ends. Drives me crazy when it gets dark out before I am even off of work.
But, not to be a complete Debbie Downer, I do love the majestic beauty of the Autumn colours. The leaves and sunsets are breathtaking this time of the year. Despite the chillier weather, it's a great time for walks in the park or drives in the country side.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It all sounds so exciting! And beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Look forward to your stories.

    Thanks for visiting.

  45. Ooooo...I'll have to come back on Friday!!!! I love October!!! The outdoorsy scents of musky leaves and fireplaces giving off their wood burning odors into the air....

    ReplyDelete
  46. Halloween is my 2nd favorite holiday

    ReplyDelete
  47. I too love fall. LOVE IT. Today we had our first pumpkin pie of the season. The temp never got above 60 (I love cold weather) and I wore a vest outside to walk the dog. Heaven.
    Can't wait for the spookiness!
I live a couple of miles from the house they used in the 2000-? remake of Amityville. (the Ryan Reynolds one) Gorgeous house, would make the most fantastic location for writers' retreats and it's currently for sale! I just need to dig up a quick 1.8 mill, and it's all mine.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm right there with you. Halloween isn't a holiday so much as it's a way of life in my house. We pretty much celebrate it the entire month of October with movies and stories and candy and decorations and all sorts of stuff.

  49. When I lived in Michigan the changing of the leaves was the very best part of fall -- it meant raking them, burning them -- roasting marshmallows. Living where we do in southern California you don't even notice when it is fall.
