It Takes Two to Tango...and a Cover Reveal!

It has become difficult to watch the news of the Ashley Madison data breach because something is really, really bothering me about it. It's something I read the first day it happened...

"The hackers mocked the site and the customer base, saying that 90% to 95% of the users were male."

Why had we not heard that data before? I looked up that statistic and found the company was once sued by an employee who claimed she was injured typing up thousands of fake profiles. Was she angry-typing?

But there is actually even more proof than that. Gizmodo conducted research into claims that the site was mostly female. Their investigation found that most of the members were, indeed, male. In combing the data, the Gizmodo reporter found that very few of the females on the site had ever even checked their inbox messages. Two-thirds of the men had checked their messages at least once. So who are the men communicating with on the site? Are they logging in to find empty inboxes on a regular basis? If so, wouldn't the site have died long ago?

The answer? ROBOTS! The reporter describes Ashley Madison's membership as "a science fictional future where every woman on Earth is dead, and some Dilbert-like engineer has replaced them with badly-designed robots."

After being challenged by Ashley Madison, Gizmodo dug a little deeper and found evidence that male users of the site had been contacted by bots on a fairly constant basis. They even demonstrated the computer code the site used to regularly communicate with men.

So these men were chatting with computers. Which is kind of funny, when you really think about it!

We've all seen the question, "Is online flirting cheating?" But this brings a new question. Is it cheating if the person at the other end isn't even a human being?

And now for today's cover reveal!!! S.K. Anthony will be guesting here when her book comes out in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime, check out her beautiful cover!

Synopsis:

Kevin Pierce is a teleporter, a ladies’ man, and a loyal friend . . . or so he thought.

As a genetically altered Luminary, he helps the government bring down some of the most dangerous criminals. Not very challenging if you have his special abilities. But when a group of rebel Luminaries attacks his Organization the fight for survival begins.

One shattering event after another tests the depth of his relationships, his sanity, and his powers. Emotionally torn, Kevin must choose carefully where his loyalty lies. In the middle of all the unexpected chaos he gets the biggest shock of his life when he’s faced by a betrayal he never saw coming. Angry, injured, and ready to even the score, Kevin goes Static . . .

  1. Doesn't say much for men.
It's the intent to cheat that makes it wrong, regardless of who is on the other end.
What is wrong with people? Dude, you probably have a wife or girlfriend - flirt with her.

  2. Must be the same across all other sites, I believe, the ratio of men to women. Oh well, that's the internet for you.

    1. They've always said that the ratio of people even on regular online dating sites has always been more male than female...although as you get older, women outlive men, so I wonder if those ratios even out?!

  3. I've heard that news report, and as blogoratti said, I would suspect it to be the same on most dating sites. I agree with what Alex said, it's the intent that makes it wrong.

    1. I just find it rather humorous that all those men thought they were chatting with real women and they were robots.

  4. lmao well maybe some of those men have a thing for the robot maid from the Jetsons. Really pathetic in the end. What do morons think when they sign up for a cheating site? They are just asking to be outed. Score one for the hackers.

    1. It's all just a big mess. I do hope maybe this makes people think twice...NOTHING you do online is 100 percent private.

  5. Oh my gosh! Bots LOL . . . well, they went there specifically to cheat, so yes, I say it counts. Though, it really is funny. That's what they get ;)

And thanks for sharing my cover!!!! You ROCK!!! :D

  6. That is a cool looking cover and an interesting plot for the book :)

This whole Ashley Madison thing is just so sad in so many different ways, now adding to it the fact men were thinking they were corresponding with real women but only to find they were bots. Makes you wonder what was so wrong in their lives they felt the need to reach out to a site such like this. I did also hear 2 suicides as a result of this hack and people being exposed.

    betty

    1. I had heard predictions that there would be suicides. Although there were some men whose email addresses were on there who noticed they were attached to women's names...so it seems some legit. email accounts were used to set up some of those millions of fake female profiles.

  7. The book sounds might good and I love the cover.

As for Ashley Madison? Nothing surprises me anymore. It's all about the money.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

    1. Money corrupts. I just hope this whole incident shuts the site down. They already lost their CEO.

  9. I'm not surprised that the site was a farce, but Josh Duggar seemed to use it to find his hook ups.

    1. I didn't read up on that...I'm still not 100% familiar with the Duggars except they're on some reality show, right? About having lots of kids? Did he actually meet the women in person whom he met on Ashley Madison?

    2. The whole family is run by a super-religious dad and mom who don't use birth control because they believe their deity punished them with a miscarriage for using it. The mom eventually had at least one more miscarriage, but they still kept having a ton more children.

But they were very anti-gay, and forbade kissing or even hugs before marriage. I think they only thing they allowed was hand holding.

Josh got caught molesting several of his sisters and probably their friends. That's what made them lose their show. Then he was found on AM. The irony was overwhelming.

Though usually the high-and-mighty ones are usually the ones with the strangest secrets.

  11. Congrats Anthony. Oh my I wonder what going Static means. Ashley Madison is just getting weirder and weirder. I don't care if it a picture of a dot. It's cheating.

  12. The thought of fake profiles scares me!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I read all about that! Hahahahaha.
There were quite a few people on that list from here. Some senators, doctors......etc.

  14. pretty neat 'back' cover. :)

  15. So.. Robots. Hmm.. With all those fake profiles and the money you have to spend, it was indeed such a waste..

  16. That is a good looking cover. Congratulations to S.K. Anthony! Personally, I do think of it as cheating. You are going on that site with the intention to meet someone else for romantic reasons. If you wanted friends, you would find them in real life and not on the web (in secret). If you are single, then by all means, go ahead. However, those men flirting with robots is very funny:)

  17. The site sounds a bit like chat porn or something. To me, that's no different than guys wanting to watch porn or talk on the phone with a sexy operator, only it's chat.

  18. Cheating is cheating is cheating. And if the intent is there it is definitely cheating.
Love that cover. Intrigued by the blurb.

  19. I flirt with my wife and that is all. I like my eyeballs ungouged.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well, it's certainly not speaking well of the men on the site. And it's kind of creepy about the robots!

  21. Nice sharp cover on on S.K. Anthony's book.... My neck feels like that sometimes. lol.

Someone has found new use for Robots. All I need is a robot to scratch my back. I would prefer a neutral robot just in case...

    Hugs.

  22. The whole thing is fascinating. Did these guys get what they deserved--chatting up bots while they wanted to find women to cheat with? Or is it a sad commentary on what some sites do? I bet there's a great story in there somewhere. (Or maybe more than one.)

  23. People always try to justify things, but cheating is still cheating.

  25. I have to go with those who say that it's the intent to cheat that makes it cheating. Trying to hook up with a bot is kind of embarrassing, though.

  26. LOL! That's telling 'em! But truly, the whole mess makes me sad. I've just celebrated my 38th anniversary with a guy who never strays. <3 my man!

    ReplyDelete
  27. haha! the whole thing shocked me, I'd never even heard of the site before until this breach thing. I hear their logo is "life's short. Have an affair" :\ pretty catchy in an awful way lol and yay for S.K.!!

  28. And does it make a difference if the person thinks the other person is real?

  29. Robots? Fake profiles? Strange stuff. Great cover reveal.

  30. congrats to Anthony on the new cover

  31. This sounds like some really random sci-fi movie. Actually, maybe not so random, isn't that in some ways what HER was about? I don't know. It's weird all around. On a completely different note, love the cover!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Very cool cover!

It's crazy how robots can do so much, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Eye-catching cover! Congrats!

  34. Robots seem pretty advanced these days, maybe they're very attractive in real life. It's definitely cheating!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Wow. I guess you could say they got what they deserved.

Or, there's a sucker born every minute!

Great cover...sounds like an interesting premise.

  36. I guess I hadn't read that many of the AM profiles were robots. In a way, that's really, really funny... At least, a robot won't hit you up for money. One of my friends was once "friended" on Facebook by a man (?) who flirted with her for a few weeks and then promptly asked her for money.

  37. I kind of like that these cheaters are talking to robots. It is about all they deserve!
