It's October!!!

I think it's important to take a moment to celebrate.

Why? Because it's October, of course! October is my favorite month of the year for multiple reasons. The weather turns nice.

The colors are amazing.

The sun is at a different angle.

Then, of course, there's Halloween.

I love scary stories. Visiting haunted places is one of my favorite things.

The month never seems to last long enough. This year I hope to spend more time working on my patio office.

And less time inside.

What do you like about October?

  1. I love crunchy fall leaves and the smells that October brings... Autumn is one of my most favorite seasons :)

  2. The weather turns cold here and we often get snow, so it doesn't excite me all that much. However, I've always enjoyed the activities that go with the month...apple picking, hayrides, Halloween, pumpkin baking.

  3. Football and our church's October fest!

  4. Lovely pictures, October is my favorite month and autumn is my favorite season :)

  5. It's nice to see you love October that much.

  6. I like it too, because it announced the end of freakin' summer and the close arrival of winter... but I hate it as well because it means the year is almost over... and we're older...

  8. I'm excited about Pumpkinfest. Any day now the giant pumpkins will arrive on the streets of my town and the artists will come and paint and carve and decorate and turn them all into works of art. Then I will go and take pictures. Lots of pictures :)

  9. I'm only one month away from my birthday. Ha.

  10. usually september brings rain and a break from the hot, dry summer. this year, we had our driest sept on record for the DFW area. so now i'm hoping october will break that! :)

  11. The best part is the natural glitter, in contrast to your first picture. The falling leaves are just amazing. Try sitting out in some remote woods where the only sounds are the wind and the falling leaves. Every October I go bow hunting and watching and listening to the leaves never gets old.

And may be why I miss the deer walking under my stand? ;-)

  12. I love the change of the season, the cooler temperature, colorful leaves, the harvest, Halloween, Thanksgiving on the 13th here in Canada.
Putting my summer cloths away and digging out warmer clothes.

    Hugs,
    JB

  13. What a lovely view, Stephanie! I, too, love working outside, especially when the leaves are turning.
There is so much to love about October. It's one of my favorite months for many reasons... but mostly because of the haunting places we visit for Halloween as well as my birthday landing on October 25th. AND this October is even MORE special because we rescued a small, black cat. She looks awesome in my window with my Harvest mantle=)

  14. Cooler weather! And, of course, Halloween.

  15. I agree that October is my favorite month too. I live in the Midwest and boy do we get a show of colors!! I have such great memories of fall and Halloween. Our town (Mark Twain's boyhood hometown) is geared up for their "Haunted Hannibal" tours!! I should try it out sometime.

  16. I like April better, but it's nice to have cooler temperatures.

    Enjoy your favorite month. ☺

  17. Haunted tours are awesome, Jennifer! Go for it! What I really like is that you get an in-depth history of the people who lived back then, not just the stories of the hauntings. I find ghost tours have far better storytelling than traditional tours because of that focus on the people instead of the place itself.

  18. October is a fun month indeed and for the most part not too bad of weather! I like seeing everyone's Halloween decorations :)

  20. My favorite month and season. And Kevin Bacon, it's gonna be a good day!!! Thanks.

  21. Yes, to finally be able to even GO outdoors is such a treat for us now as the temperatures slowly drop (we're still in the 90s but should start seeing consistent 80s soon!) I love all the fall color, but we have to drive a little ways to see it. I miss just going down the block and seeing maples and dogwoods and elms. But, that's ok....we have other things here. :-) But, I'm like you, fall is my favorite time of year!

  22. All fun reasons to love October! I like the weather and leaves the best.

  23. It's a little less hot than September, and it leads to November, when we might get down to sixty degrees.

    Love,
    Janie

  24. I love October too! Autumn is my favorite season and Oct/Nov are probably my favorite months. The trees here are just starting to turn...so gorgeous!

  26. That one picture of a hike in the woods makes me want to go for a hike in the woods:) I love the change in the leaves, the smell in the air. I love Halloween and craft shows. It is a burst of beautiful colour to everything creative

  27. I love autumn too. Here I am savouring the last of spring before it heats up and I go into sad and soggy meltdown.
    Happy October to you.

  28. BEST MONTH OF THE YEAR. (And not just because it's my birth month.) I seriously feel like the whole month is a holiday--and I'm right with you. Who doesn't love a scary story and dressing up to get free candy? I mean, it's kid's dream come true!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Love the changing seasons and the turning leaves. Also love the cooler temps!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm probably the only person in the world who's not into fall (mainly since summer is my fav season and for me, fall=end of my favorite season). That being said I've been enjoying it more this year. Favorite thing: cooking more! soups and pastas. And of course the leaves changing :)

  31. Boo!

    Ghosty wobbles !!!

    . . . . and the autumn leaves are delightful . . . and it is my birthday month . . . . :)

  32. My husband and I got married in October (in Hawaii. It was so beautiful!). So it's definitely one of my favorite months! Also, love that Kevin Bacon GIF, lol.

  34. Like you, I LOVE the changing leaves and the altering light.... SO beautiful...

I particularly like it later in the month when the leaves swirl around the streets and park in a playful manner. The last hurrah before winter.

  35. The colors, Halloween, pumpkin EVERYTHING, the smells...and this is now baby girl's birth month :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. October is my favorite month too! For all the reasons you mentioned!

  37. Autumn is my second favorite season. :-) So I think October is awesome too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. All of the mentioned above. It is a fun month:)

  39. Definitely Halloween. Here in California the weather is unpredictable in October--haven't retired the shorts yet, even though there was one rainy day last month. Already have the jacket out, just in case.

  40. I love the beautiful colors and the blanket of leaves that swirl with every gust of wind. Fall is good. :)

  41. Two years ago, in the first week of October, my husband and I saw hundreds of monarch butterflies while they were migrating over Georgia. We were at Arabia Mountain and many of them landed on the local wildflowers, the Yellow Daises...this is a wonderful memory of a very special October for us.
    Happy October for you!
I hope no one gives you cream over your piece of pie! LOL.

  42. October only brings me closer to a Missouri winter and I'm just not interested. :)

The Laura Ingalls wilder festival I attended is in Mansfield, MO.

  43. I love love love October. Hikes through the woods and colors that are total eye candy.

  44. October is my favorite month. The air is crisp and smells amazing. The leaves are beautiful, and the weather is perfect. :)

  45. I love Fall, in general, for all the same reasons you listed. My hubby is addicted to sun and summer; in fact, he starts complaining about winter about mid-July.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi Stephanie .. the bounty of harvest and smell of scrunchy leaves underfoot - the rain will come shortly and the aromas of damp leaves and earth .. and the sun's angle is changing ... Fall is good.

    Cheers Hilary

  47. I love this month as well for all the reasons you mentioned!

  48. Though not a fan of the scary and Halloween not being such a big thing here I do however agree with you on the autumnal colours. Gorgeous pictures, those trees are beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love October too because I know fall is coming soon here in Louisiana. We don't get the beautiful fall colors down here but after suffering in 90 degree weather for 4 months straight, October gives me hope that I can soon switch from sandals to boots!

  50. Hi Stephanie! I love fall too. What do I love the most? The last days on my three-season porch, sitting with a blanket tucked around me and looking out the window at the colors of the leaves...

And walks through our local arboretum. Love that too!
    Blessings,
    Ceil

  51. Lovely pictures! August and September are my favourites months. It can start to get pretty cold here in October, but I do love the fall colours, and it was hubby's birthday yesterday, and that means cake! lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love fall. It is so pretty. Love watching the leaves change color.

  53. Woot! More 80s animated gifs please!!! :D

  54. The weather turns nice? I keep hoping, but we're supposed to get to 99 degrees today. Yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I love the summer and am always sad to see it go, but October is such a beautiful month, too. I enjoy the canopy of colors and the crisp air! :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. I love October too. Halloween candy, Halloween decorations, candy...lol I also love that it starts to cool down, not yet it's still in the 90's here but soon it will cool down.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Fantastic post! I love the images you selected.

I hate that my better half gets slammed with seasonal allergies as this month rolls in.

I love... Starbucks PSL, pumpkin roll, Halloween, costume parties, and all the cool posts of fellow writers as they gear up for NaNoWriMo.

    :)

  58. Nice patio! I love all the pumpkin desserts that pop up everywhere. And candy corn, mmm!

  59. Beautiful colours! (The weather is getting warmer over here in Singapore but I like the slow, romantic feel of October).

    ReplyDelete
  60. We went from the 90s to the 80s, so the weather is finally cooling down. It'll keep getting nicer until the end of the month. I've already detected a nice breeze from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love the fall too, but here it's all too short and the nasty weather will soon set in. I don't look forward to that.

I used to love Halloween until I was in charge of a big Halloween event for work for three years running. It kind of killed my love of dressing up. I still love scary movies and books, though!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I love everything about October especially Halloween! Extra candy! However October in southern California isn't really fall - it was 101 today and tomorrow is supposed to be hotter. Yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Fall is my favorite season! I like the weather getting cooler and the beautiful colors, seeing our grandchildren dressed up for Halloween and many other things!
