R is for Robes

This month I'm participating in the A to Z Challenge. My theme is indulgences. Today's letter is:

Is there anything more comfortable than slipping into a big, comfortable, warm robe?

It's really an ingenious invention, intended to be worn between showering and getting dressed, but some people wear them all day.

For that reason, someone invented the Snuggie, which was popular for about a minute.

I noticed recently my robe was looking shabby, so I bought a new one. It's a girly-girl Betsey Johnson robe!

How much time each day do you spend in your robe?

I have big news coming next week about my second book, 25 Roses, so be sure to check in!

  1. hahahahaha! You caught me as I love my robe! I spend the morning in it and , if not going out in the evening, I get home and get into my evening attire-nope not Downton Abbey attire but my jammies and my beloved Robe

  2. I've been meaning to buy myself a nice, bright, fluffy robe... but the texture has to be right... not woollen and not towelling... but I'll know it when I feel it...

  3. I do enjoy all-day jammie days, but the robe I only snuggle in long enough to warm up and put on regular clothes..oh, but how I treasure that warm snuggly time.

  4. I've never been a robe girl. I'm a runner so I tend to wear workout clothes and sweat shirts for my comfy clothes:) But robes always look so pretty and femine! :)

  5. Too hot for a robe in most parts of India, Stephanie! But I do like to lounge in my pyjamas sometimes! ;)

  6. I have a very beautiful robe, made of velour; I bought it when I had my knee operated on, but for some reason, I don't wear it a lot. I don't know why-probably from a old habit of getting dressed before my feet hit the ground in the morning. Hmmm. I'm wasting a wonderful resource. ;)

  7. I don't have a comfy bathrobe, and even though I live in Florida I've always wanted one. :)

  8. Robes rule. Enough said! :)

  9. I'm more of a jammie girl, but I do borrow my husband's robe from time to time. :-)

  10. I actually don't have a robe - it looks like I am missing out! Although, I do rock my sweatpants and yoga pants pretty much daily :).

  11. I've never owned a robe, but I am contemplating buying a snuggie to bring to my kid's hockey games-it's so darn cold in the ice rink :p

  12. Finley Jayne--a big, thick, cozy blanket would probably be even better! Yeah, those ice rinks can be cold if you aren't the one out there on the ice.

  13. Yes! They came from dressing gowns, which I often wish were still ala mode, because those things were awesome--fashionable and casual.

  14. Definitely an indulgence! Although when a hotel has robes in the room it's a good sign I'm not going to get as much sightseeing done as I planned. :)

  15. I love robes, and if I could I'd wear one all day long. So comfy. In SoCal, where I live, it's a bit too warm for robes, however ... I'll work around that for comfort. :)

  17. Very rarely wear a robe at all. I hang around in my nightdress for a while before I get dressed.

  20. Oh, I love robes, but I don't have one I love right now! I had a snuggly, cozy one from Victoria's Secret (no, it wasn't slinky - it was big and gray and fleecy) and I wore it to death. My partner made me get rid of it, it was getting so sad. And I bought one now that I don't like. I miss my robe!! LOL, I need to go shopping!

  21. Hmm... right now I don't own a robe. I used to own a cute leopard robe that was very comfortable, and in my mind, stylish.

Your new robe is awfully cute!

  22. Oh! I love robes, and the softer the better!

  23. I don't like my robe so my husband wears it more than I do. I am super picky about robes and the one I have (it was a gift) just isn't what I wanted. Someday I'll replace it... but I live with the person who gave it to me and I don't want to hurt any feelings LOL

  24. Yes robes are the best... not for writing though because in a café it attracks attention... ;)
    With great respect! A.

  27. Thank you for the comment on my blog!

Though I don't have a robe, I do wear very comfy PJs.

Best of luck on your upcoming release of 25 Roses!

  29. I don't have a robe, but many comfortable PJ's and comfortable loose pants and T shirts.

Good luck for your upcoming release of 25 Roses. I love the title.

  30. I don't have a robe either but if I were thinking about indulgence, I would get one of those inconceivably soft ones. I'd probably wear it all day. :)

  31. I have an old Mickey Mouse robe that is sooooo perfect. I'm in despair that it's wearing out.

  32. Don't own a robe, LOL, but I do have a snuggie, so I guess that counts? But I rarely wear it. I'm one of those "get out of bed and into the shower without passing go" type of girl :)

  33. I have robes, but never really got into wearing them. I don't understand, since they're so comfortable.

  34. I love my robe and when I don't have to be out and about and the temperature is chilly I wear it for as long as I like.

  35. Stephanie,

I always get dressed straight after showering. I do like to put on my pyjamas early in the evening and lounge in them. Once we got some unexpected evening visitors and I entertained them in my PJs. I didn't mind but maybe they thought I was a bit strange. They never came back!

  36. Sue, I think the rule is, if you show up without letting people know in advance, you should be prepared for anything!

  37. If I didn't have to let the dog in and out all day and step out on the deck to talk to the neighbors, refill the water dish I probably would spend my days off in a robe. A comfy robe, a gripping mystery, cups and cups of tea,... Maybe I should send Angie off to Doggie Daycare the next time my husband goes out of town.

  38. I love my big, warm, floor length robe! It's actually a man's robe and my winter evening snuggly. ☺

  40. I do own a robe, but it's only really used when I'm not feeling too good, which isn't often.
I have two conditions: dressed, or undressed.
By the way, I like your choice for your new robe.
